Recycled-Parts Market Grows, Boosting LKQ, July 05, 2007: 07:17 PM EST, Jul. 5, 2007 (Investor's Business Daily)

LKQ Corp. LKQX appears to be forming a new base, after a low-volume breakout on May 21 failed. The stock currently is six weeks into its latest pattern. LKQ is the nation's largest supplier of recycled parts for light vehicles. It's also the only nationwide player in the business, with more than 100 centers for dismantling, inventory and sales.

In a presentation to investors in May, the company said it's growing through acquisitions and by boosting market share. Insurance companies, seeking to cut costs, are more willing to rely on recycled parts. Body shop repairs used 30% recycled parts last year, compared with 28% in 2004 and 25% in '02. LKQ's earnings rose 31%, 29%, 27% and 27% over the past four quarters. Sales increased 22% in the first quarter, down from 42%-48% gains in the three prior periods.

Internet auto-salvage auction site bluecycle is predicting a £1.5 million increase in 2007 sales by working with leading mobile telecoms consultancy Alpheus Solutions Ltd to open the mobile channel to its customers. Alpheus has deployed RefreshMobile’s Mobizine technology to deliver a daily, magazine style catalogue of vehicles for auction direct to customers’ mobile phones. This innovation has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious Mobile Messaging Awards 2007. Bluecycle is the first company outside the publishing industry to use Mobizines which enables the company to promote auctions to buyers who aren’t always at their desks to check for latest availability. Based on current activity levels it is estimated that by the end of 2007, the Mobizine will help increase bluecycle’s active customer base by approximately 5%.

How’s Business?

There are a lot of things that go into creating success. I don't like to do just the things I like to do. I like to do things that cause the company to succeed. I don't spend a lot of time doing my favorite activities.
